Amne Suedi is a distinguished international lawyer, investment adviser, and entrepreneur with over a decade of experience advising and structuring high-impact investments across global markets. She is the Founder and Managing Director of Shikana Investment and Advisory, an international legal and investment advisory firm established in 2014 with offices in Switzerland and Tanzania. Shikana specializes in facilitating foreign investments in Eastern and Southern Africa, as well as in Switzerland and the United States, providing strategic, legal, and regulatory guidance to a diverse clientele.
Under her leadership, Shikana has advised multinational corporations, financial institutions, development organizations, and entrepreneurs on market entry strategies, joint ventures, strategic acquisitions, tax compliance, and legal structuring. Her impressive client portfolio includes leading names such as Johari Rotana Hotel, Scania, Capital Drilling, Oryx Gas, Bolt, the World Trade Organization, East African Community, CDC Group, the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC), National Bank of Commerce, CRDB Bank, SportPesa, Volt Resources, and Coastal Aviation.
Amne has successfully facilitated over USD 300 million in cross-border investments, with a particular focus on ensuring sustainable and impact-driven outcomes. She has worked closely with private equity firms deploying over USD 100 million in African markets, providing end-to-end advisory and liaising with regulatory bodies to ensure investment readiness and compliance. Her commitment to inclusive growth is reflected in her work with over 100 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Africa, guiding them through investment readiness, due diligence processes, and strategic scaling.
Before founding her firm, Amne began her career in Switzerland’s financial sector. She served as a legal adviser at Capital Dynamics, an asset management firm with CHF 60 billion in assets under management, where she supported traders, asset managers, and private equity and hedge fund teams. She later joined the prestigious Pictet Group, contributing legal expertise to its Asset Management and Alternative Investments Division, particularly in fund of funds and private equity vehicles.
Amne holds significant governance roles in both public and private sectors. She is the Chairperson of the Board of the Switzerland–Tanzania Chamber of Commerce and a Board Member of the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC), the national agency overseeing foreign and domestic investment. She also serves on the Board of the National Carbon Monitoring Centre, where she provides expert guidance at the intersection of climate finance, business, and law. Additionally, she has been appointed by the Government of Tanzania to the Core Team for Drafting Tanzania’s National Vision 2050, contributing her legal and investment expertise to shape the country’s long-term development agenda. She has also served as a Non-Executive Director of Armadale Capital, a UK-based investment company listed on the AIM Stock Exchange.
Amne is licensed to practice law in Switzerland, Tanzania, and Zanzibar. She earned her LLM in International Finance and Trade Law from University College London and is fluent in English, French, and Kiswahili. As a writer and thought leader, she regularly publishes insights on African markets, legal frameworks for entrepreneurs, and investment strategy.
Her professional excellence has been widely recognized. She was named among the Top 100 Executives in Tanzania in 2022, ranking 42nd among CEOs leading companies with an annual turnover of TZS 1 billion or more. In 2023, she was honored as one of Africa’s Top 50 Women in Management.
